Anatomy & Physiology

Posture and voluntary movement depend on a musculoskeletal system. Functioning also relies on a brain and nervous system to receive, interpret and transmit information. How we undertake everyday actions comprise a mix of mental and physical elements.

The Alexander Technique is a practical, mind-body method. Learning the technique often leads to a change of habitual thinking, a release of harmful muscular tension and the cessation of unnecessary compression on joints. The Alexander Technique works through both therapeutic and educational intervention. The integration and application to everyday activity is swift and enduring. The specifics are introduced in J.Korer’s presentations and developed fully during instruction.

The three angles shown here of the human anatomy illustrate parts playing a role in Alexander Technique instruction.
